A Greek Cypriot army officer has confessed to murdering five women
and two young girls in a case of serial killing that the authorities
fear could reach as many as 30 victims.
Nikos Metaxas, 35, is
being held on suspicion of murder after providing information linking
him to the bodies of three women, including that of an unidentified
victim found yesterday at a shooting range outside the capital, Nicosia.
Two bodies were found last week in an abandoned mine shaft about 20
miles from the capital.
